12-Ton SD125 Compactor Enhances Volvo CE’s Equipment Lineup

12-Ton SD125 Compactor Boosts Volvo CE’s Equipment Range

Volvo Construction Equipment will become the leading company in the next few years because it focuses on producing new machines. It is also great to witness that Volvo CE not only provides a solution for urban development, where compact machinery is needed it also provides solutions for highway construction projects. As it is the requirement of current demand especially in the North American region. Volvo Construction Equipment has once again showcased its commitment to innovative manufacturing and meeting the increasing demand. The company demonstrated its newly launched used machinery for sale in trade shows with tech-savvy components. Volvo’s new launch of a compactor, the SD125 compactor. This 12-ton machine, tailored for medium- to heavy-duty compaction jobs, is the largest model in Volvo CE’s soil compactor lineup.

Volvo soil compactor has advanced features and design aimed at reducing operating and ownership costs. The SD125 promises to be groundbreaking for both contractors and rental houses across North America.

A response to market demand of SD125 compactor

One of the main reasons and driving forces behind the production of soil compactor SD125 is the extensive demand of dealers and customers. In the construction industry, many have been looking for equipment that offers durability and performance. SD 125 soil compactor meets the all criteria with added weight for most roust compaction tasks.

Justin Zupanc, Compaction Product Manager at Volvo CE, emphasized that the SD125 is a direct response to these demands, combining the quality and durability of the SD115 with the enhanced capacity of a 12-ton machine.

Specifications of the equipment

The Volvo SD125 soil compactor is equipped with an array of characteristics designed to enhance performance. It is specially designed to ease the operation and has excellent functionality options.

In the machine, the operator can see a Tier 4 Final-compliant four-cylinder Volvo engine that generates 147 horsepower 110kW. Due to the active diesel particulate filter system, the engine is not only powerful but also efficient. Moreover, the diesel particulate filter (DPF) helps to reduce the emission and prevent material build-up.

Volvo’s commitment to environmental sustainability is clear in this feature, as well as in the machine’s reduced fuel consumption. That is achieved through a hydraulically operated cooling fan that only activates when required.

The Volvo equipment is built with durability in mind. It has an 84-inch (213 cm) smooth drum, and its operating weight stands at an impressive 26,565 pounds. One prominent improvement over the SD115 is the thicker drum shell, which adds 935 pounds of mass to the drum.

This increased weight enhances the static load and eccentric force, resulting in superior compaction performance. In essence, the SD125 delivers a more powerful energy, allowing operators to achieve greater compaction resulting in more irregular access.

Improved compaction capabilities

The SD125 compactor is also very flexible when it comes to terrains and working with different depths of material. The dynamic drum forces can be controlled from the comfort of a switch, and this enables the operator to adjust the compaction according to the specific site conditions.

Furthermore, the two extendable drum frequencies are added advantages as well and the optional five frequency enhances the capabilities of the machine making it very useful in various applications.

Powerful slewing in the middle of the SD125 compactor offers +/-35 degrees of rotation and +/-12 degrees of drum rotation and has high stability and enough flexibility even cross fields with rocks or other unnecessary materials.

This feature leads to increased operator comfort and – most importantly – uniform compaction. With this, the machine has been equipped to deal with steep slopes, which have gradients of up to 35 percent making it suitable for rough terrains that are typical of major construction projects like highways, and dams among others.

Built for durability and efficiency

The application of the SD125 compactor in Volvo CE has been made strategic to make sure that the vehicle is not only efficient but also durable. The machine contains an industrial strength axle within the body of the drive train to provide for a reliable rear wheel drive.

Durability is further complemented by the Volvo CE Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty which guarantees the frame and the articulation joint. This warranty also further establishes the company’s belief in the durability of the SD125 equipment, as well as giving its customers confidence in their investment in the particular equipment.

Operator oriented enhancement

When it comes to safety features, Volvo Construction Equipment makes no compromise on it. In its new machinery lineup particularly in this model, Volvo has implemented an emergency stop system that immediately shuts down the engine. It systematically applies the brake and halts the machine’s movement if the operator leaves the machine. This feature adds an extra layer of safety for both operators and surrounding workers on the job site.

A valuable addition for contractors and rental houses

The new Volvo SD125 compactor is positioned to be a valuable asset for both highway contractors and rental companies. The machinery’s combination of power efficiency and ease of operation makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of compaction activities. From large-scale toughest projects to small specialized applications, these machines are worth considering.

Rental companies, in particular, stand to benefit from the SD125’s low operating and ownership costs. The machine’s fuel-efficient engine, extended maintenance intervals, and durable design reduce the total cost of ownership, while its versatility makes it an attractive option for a diverse range of customers.

Conclusion

Volvo CE’s persistent efforts at development and customer fulfilment are demonstrated with the addition of the SD125 soil compaction to its North American lineup. Because of its strong construction, improved compaction abilities, and user-friendly functions, the SD125 is expected to become an important component in the fleets of both rental firms and contractors.

The SD125 is an outstanding example of Volvo CE’s commitment to performance, sustainability, and quality as the company expands its selection of compaction equipment. The SD125 compactor, which will be available for purchase in North America in the first half of 2025, is anticipated to have a big influence on the construction sector by offering a strong and effective solution for medium- to heavy-duty compaction tasks.
